Searching for a good sports bar in the Uptown district? The Big Al’s McKinney Avenue Tavern (or, the MAT, as the locals call it) will not disappoint. You won’t miss a beat, as the MAT boasts an enormous 10-foot projection TV. (No worries; other games are broadcast simultaneously on smaller sets scattered throughout the joint!)

Dallas party-goers flock to this hip Uptown lounge for a good time — which includes to-die-for cocktails, tasty tapas, and great music. Republic’s ambiance is chic yet comfortable with oversized leather couches, warm hues, and low lighting.

And back to those cocktails. Teresa Gubbins of The Dallas Morning News writes: “Republic’s frozen mojito may be one of the best drinks ever served by mankind. Its only competition on the planet: the frozen mango limeade, also served at Republic.” Both are made from scratch and reasonably priced at $7.

This hot supper club gets five stars all around. Guests dine to the sounds of live jazz every night of the week. And, while performers are typically local artists, Harry Connick, Jr. and Branford Marsalis have both graced Sambuca’s stage.

The menu is extensive and features favorites such as Grilled Beef Tenderloin with peppercorn sauce and Mediterranean Calamari Fritti (served with marinara or presto). Over 60 varieties of wine are available. Peruse the menu!

Family owned and operated, Christie’s has been a favorite Uptown Dallas hang-out since its doors opened in 1991. ESPN Sports Travel touts it as “one of the best places in the city to watch a game”. In addition to a plethora of TV screens (over 25 in all!), this sports bar also features billiards and shuffleboard tables.

Food selections are amazingly diverse for a pub. The menu offers over ten specialty sandwiches, soups, salads, and even low-carb options. But, no worries, traditional hot wings and burgers are, of course, available as well!
