Explore Dallas’ colorful past! Some pretty fascinating tales are chronicled in the Uptown Trails Cemetery Tour. Historian Ron Emerich has researched and documented the stories of countless early Dallas residents on historical markers throughout four burial grounds in Uptown: Greenwood Cemetery, Temple Emanu-El Cemetery, Calvary Cemetery, and Freedman’s Memorial.

Carrie Marcus Neiman.jpg

During this self-guided walking tour, you’ll learn about the lives of eight former Dallas mayors, Civil War soldiers, and Carrie Marcus Neiman (co-founder of – you guessed it – Neiman-Marcus) who are among those buried.

Stop by the Uptown Dallas Association office, located at 2808 McKinney Avenue, to pick up a free brochure. The first site, Greenwood Cemetery, is just around the corner.
