Do yourself a favor and be sure to check with the BBB (Better Business Bureau) before choosing a jeweler. Unfortunately, we went to Ice House Jewelers without first finding out about the customer complaints with the BBB for customer service and return or refund issues. They previously even held an “unsatisfactory” rating. We wanted to customize a ring and were originally told by the owner that it would only take around a month. Great! But once the process began the problems started to mount as did our frustration. The owner is extremely unprofessional and FULL of excuses. What was suppose to take a month painfully dragged out to nearly 5 whole months. During this time, the owner would not return our calls (sometimes for weeks), cancelled appointments – often times on very short notice and was not even available during posted business hours. His door was actually locked during business hours- unbelievable. There is something fundamentally wrong with this since he already had a large sum of our money and we only wanted the final product to be finished so that we could move on. By the middle of this terrible ordeal, we were ready to get out- just to get away from him and to move on to professional jewelers. Our greatest mistake was giving Ice House another chance to make this right. We felt like we were working with people who had no clue- we had to ask several times to get a certification on our diamond- we also tried without success to get a written warranty. The owner is very reluctant to do this for some reason, even thought it’s a standard among the profession. When we FINALLY got our ring there were actually mistakes and visible flaws. We should have never given this business a chance. To top it off, when we had the ring appraised by a reputable company, it was only worth ½ of what we paid for it. This entire experience has been awful- and now the owner will not give us a refund. I’ll be surprised if they stay in business for much longer.
